When driving on Kangaroo Island, do not be surprised if other drivers show you a finger. It is a tradition known as the “Kangaroo Island wave”. A driver would raise his index finger while keeping the rest of his hand on the steering wheel, whenever he sees another driver on the road. Getting To Kangaroo Island

There are two ways of getting to Kangaroo Island. One is to take a ferry from Cape Jervis to get to Penneshaw, the island’s ferry terminal. Cruise time is around three hours, and for an additional A$180, you can take your car on board the ferry. (Booking at www.sealink.com.au)

The other way is to fly via Regional Express (www.rex.com.au) from Adelaide Airport. It is about half an hour flight to land at the island’s Kingscote Airport.
